About Boston AIDS Africa
Boston AIDS Africa was started by two Boston business women, Gerry Rhoades and Pia Proal, with a vision to demonstrate the Boston area's compassion by responding to the enormous need that exists in African villages affected by the AIDS pandemic. Last year, Boston AIDS Africa successfully helped provide needed care for thousands of individuals who are living with AIDS in Rwanda.
World Vision is a Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice.
About the AIDS Crisis in Africa AIDS is probably the greatest humanitarian crisis of our time. On average a child loses a parent to AIDS every 14 seconds of every day. In the face of this tragic healthcare crisis, over 60,000 dedicated volunteers and family members are caring for victims struggling to live with HIV in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Sadly many of these tireless caregivers don’t even have the most basic items needed to help prolong lives and comfort the sick or even to protect themselves from infection.
About Caregiver Kits and Refill Bags Caregiver kits and refill bags contain basic products which are administered by Caregivers to AIDS sufferers in order to keep them healthy and comfortable. These kits are aimed at improving the quality of life of AIDS sufferers as much as possible while remaining inexpensive enough to be able to consistently replenish their supplies.
Caregiver Kits contain: Antibacterial soap, Petroleum jelly, Cotton balls, Antifungal cream, Disposable latex gloves, Notebooks and pens, Washcloths, Flashlight, Batteries, Acetaminophen, Oral rehydration salts and a Handwritten note of encouragement.
